FixLens is a Chrome extension by Fixholics (https://fixholics.com) that helps Salesforce administrators understand why a user can or cannot see a Salesforce field, object or record. The published version of this policy is at https://fixholics.com/tools/fixlens/privacy/.
Summary
FixLens does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal or organisational data. Everything stays in your browser. The only network requests go to your own Salesforce org's API, using the session you are already logged into. FixLens has no analytics, no tracking, no remote configuration and no remote code, and it never contacts fixholics.com.
What the extension reads
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
Your Salesforce session cookie (sid) for the org in your current tab | To call your org's REST API as you | Sent only in the Authorization header of requests to that org's own *.my.salesforce.com host. Never stored, logged or displayed. |
When you right-click on a Salesforce page: the clicked element's field identifier (data-target-selection-name), the nearest field label text, and the page address | To know which field and record you want explained | Kept in memory, then passed to the side panel through chrome.storage.session. Field values are never read. |
| Salesforce configuration and records you ask about: users and their profiles, permission sets, roles and groups, sharing settings and share rows, and the owner of the selected record | To explain access | Requested from your org and kept in memory while the side panel is open. |
What it stores
chrome.storage.session: the field you right-clicked and your last form selection, cleared when the browser closes.chrome.storage.local: only a flag that you dismissed the welcome card.- Query results stay in memory and are discarded when the side panel closes.
What it does not do
- It sends no data to Fixholics or to anyone else, and makes no calls to fixholics.com.
- It has no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking. Links to fixholics.com carry UTM tags, but these only travel if you click a link.
- It loads no remote code or remote configuration.
- It never asks for or stores usernames or passwords.
- It never changes Salesforce data. Every request is a read.
Permissions
- contextMenus: the "FixLens: explain this field" right-click item, on Salesforce pages only.
- cookies: read your org's Salesforce session cookie.
- sidePanel: show FixLens next to the page.
- storage: the session-only and local items listed above.
- activeTab: read the address of the Salesforce tab you are on.
